Baseball, Equipment Managers, and Simulated Rape

Catchy headline huh? Well, I'd love to tell you that it's just an attention getter and the context of this story have nothing to do with the headline, but I'd be a liar. So get ready for this one...it's a doosy.

University of Central Florida Baseball Coach Jay Bergman has an interesting style of getting his players fired up. In fact, all managers have their own style of motivating. For instance, Lou Piniella likes to yell at umpires and throw bases. Bergman on the other hand, apparently likes to humiliate his equipment manager.

According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel:

"The three sources said Rhyce told the university in a written complaint that he was held down on the field, fully clothed, by a baseball staff member before a March 7 game while the players watched. Bergman was said to have grabbed a bat and shoved it toward Rhyce's buttocks."

It should come as no surprise that Bergman was fired today. Feel free to read more about the story. It's pretty predictible. Bergman denies any wrong doing, players are unavailable for comment, etc...
